Lecce-Matera-CapriItalySpring and fall recommendedPuglia and Amalfi Coast
[ HIGHLIGHTS ]Italy coast to coast
Interesting combination
The picture above was taken by us in January, in Polignano a Mare. While Puglia and the Amalfi Coast are traditionally spring, summer, and fall destinations, a sunny day during the Holidays is truly special. The light is crisp, the crowds are gone, and the beauty remains untouched.
The Amalfi Coast is about a three-hour drive, with different landscapes, habits, and different food. We love them both. Plenty of options for your journey, that you can cut and past as you wish.
Capri or Sorrento?
Great places, offering different experiences.
Sorrento is flat and a town that lives 365 days a year. Capri, being an island, offers incredible views and unique itineraries, with quite steep streets. Fancy shops and many restaurants/hotels are closed from November until Easter.
So you can decide according to the season and the steps you want to cover.
Puglia is mostly flat and offers an incredibly rich cuisine based on vegetables and fish, with plenty of meat options as well.

Fast pace, see it all
We really like this pace. It gives you the chance to see both, the East and the West of Southern Italy, whether in one week or 10 days—especially if you want to add Paestum, an extraordinary site of Greek temples.
Landing in Bari or Brindisi, you can reach your preferred Masseria with a short drive. These are old, fortified farms, both simple and elegant, now transformed into beautiful resorts. They offer a unique way to stay in the heart of the Puglia countryside.
We love Lecce for an evening walk and a truly delicious dinner. Otranto and Porto Badisco are also must-sees. But you can choose to reduce travel distances and savour the incredible red wines of the area.
Crossing the country, you can stop at Matera, an amazing town carved into the caves, to be explored step by step. Paestum is still unspoiled, and we love walking around its Greek temples at sunset. Do you want to make MOZZARELLA? That’s the place!
Ending up on the Amalfi Coast or Capri is what locals dream of too. Incredible cliffs and deep blue water, perfect for a swim during the summer. A boat ride is always worth it, and staying on Capri is what we love most—walking at night through streets that have hosted centuries of writers and emperors on vacation.
What to expect:
Expert local guides for town walks and unspoiled trails (if you like an active outdoor day).
Great views and authentic Italian cuisine.
Charming accommodations where history meets comfort.
Art, culture, and nature in their purest form.
As you can see, some of our suggested itineraries are relaxed and focus on a specific area for a week. However, this specific journey has a fast pace, including several hours of driving during the day. It will be well worth it, though—your photo collection will be incredible.
